Andrés Martín Garciá de la Cruz is NVIC/NINO PhD Candidate at the Netherlands-Flemish Institute in Cairo, a position offered by NVIC and co-sponsored by NINO.
Andrés completed his MA in Archaeology and Heritage at Universidad Autónoma de Madrid in 2021, and his rMA in Egyptology at Leiden University in 2024. His PhD research project is titled “In the Centre of Egyptology: Cairo and the Role and History of the Foreign Archaeological Institutes in Egypt” and is supervised by prof. Olaf Kaper and dr. Marleen De Meyer.

As rMA student of Egyptology, Andrés joined the organisation committee of the XIIIth Congress of Egyptologists (ICE 2023), held in Leiden 6-11 August 2023. The Proceedings of the Congress are currently being prepared.
He worked on NINO’s publications archive in preparation for the move to our new premises.
